LAT print queue not releasing/sharing printer?

» close window

The Question is:

LAT-printers not diconnecting from device after printjob finished?

Dear Wizard, our Y2K testing VAX is set up with LAT printqueues connecting
to the same printers as our production VAX-cluster. But when a user prints
from the Y2k-machine it does not disconnect from the printer after the
printjob has finished, meaning we
have to stop/next and start the printqueue for others to gain access to the
printer.

I have not found any mention of this problem in any patch release-notes? I
have installed the latest LAT-patch vaxlat02_071 to no avail. Have not yet
tried installing the QMAN-patch.

The Answer is :

The most common cause of this behaviour is the use of the wrong print
symbiont on the OpenVMS print queue definition -- make sure the symbiont
used is LATSYM, not PRTSMB. If this is not the problem, please contact
the Compaq Customer Support Center directly for assistance.
