» close window

The Question is:

How do I prevent the remote password prompt being displayed, when calling
sysman from a command procedure to an external node ? The usernames for the
calling and recieving accounts are the same and there is a default proxy
between accounts on both machine

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard would encourage you to upgrade to V7.1-2, V7.2,
V7.2-1, or (when available) later. (V7.0 is no longer supported.)

SYSMAN is designed and built to expect the remote password to be entered
interactively -- this is similar to the original design of SET HOST, and
assumes that the embedding if passwords into a DCL command procedure file
is a potential (serious) security problem.

Task-to-task DCL may be an alternative approach, if you have proxies
configured as stated. Examples of this technique exist elsewhere in
the OpenVMS Ask The Wizard area, see topic 159 as a start.
