The Question is: I used can do this: DSA>DIR DSB::CODE:*.* to display the content of another Alpha, but after using DECnet phase V, it didn't work, I must type: DSA>DIR DSB"USER PASSWD"::CODE:*.*. What can I do to make it work as usual? Thanks very much! The Answer is : That the "DSA>DIR DSB::CODE:*.*" worked implies a DECnet proxy was defined on DSB for the current user name on DSA::, or some form of wildcard proxy was defined, or that default FAL access was enabled. The DECnet Phase IV proxy database needs to be converted to operate under DECnet-Plus -- with OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 and later and with OpenVMS VAX V6.1 and later the two proxy databases (NETPROXY and NET$PROXY) are maintained in parallel by OpenVMS. Please see the installation and upgrade procedures for detailed instructions on performing the proxy database conversion, should it be necessary. If you have already converted your database and still experience problems, there may be something wrong with the node name and node address mappings. You should enable LOGFAIL security auditing or security alarms on the DSB:: target node and issue the failing command on the DSA:: source node. The security audit message will display the perceived name of the source node, as well as the particular failure. You should then confirm that the node name is correct, and that there is a valid DECnet proxy record -- either specifically for that node name and username combination, or some form of a wildcard proxy. The OpenVMS Wizard does not recommend enabling default FAL access, nor the use of wildcard proxies to enable general access. Enabling these options can lead to potential security vulnerabilities. Default FAL access can be enabled or disabled via the network configuration procedure, and proxies are managed via the AUTHORIZE utility.
