OpenVMS failure due to DECserver failure?

» close window

The Question is:

Why does VMS crash when a Decserver attached to it dies ?
It has crashed twice for no apparent reason (ie no one trying to access the
server at the time) , once when trying to connect to the server from VMS
(using SET HOST/MOP ) and once when the server was rebooted.
Crash dump reports error in NET$MOP.
(Still awaiting analysis from support !)

The Answer is :

OpenVMS should not crash when a DECserver fails -- this is a bug.
Determining the specifics of the system crash will require analysis
of the crashdump -- the OpenVMS Wizard would initially recommend
looking for and installing any available network and LAT ECO kits.
