Incorrect disk volume rebuild status?

» close window

The Question is:

Need help with the following:

$ SHOW DEV/REBUILD_STATUS DSA112   returns the following:

Device Name             Rebuild needed?

DSA112:                 Yes

Then I run ..............

$ ANALYZE/DISK/REPAIR DSA112
$ SET VOLUME/REBUILD=FORCE DSA112
runs without errors, but returns the same information:

$ SHOW DEV/REBUILD_STATUS DSA112

Device Name             Rebuild needed?

DSA112:                 Yes

Why is this?

I've searched DSN Link, VMS Documentation, OpenVMS FAQ, Ask the Wizard,
V7.1, V7.2, V7.0 New Features Documentation, without success.

The Answer is :

  This appears to be a variation of a known bug in OpenVMS, where
  the SET VOLUME /REBUILD command does not correctly update a disk
  storage control block (SCB) field (SCB$W_WRITECNT) to reflect the
  rebuild.
