Snapshot Services Status?

The Question is:

 
I understand that SNAPSHOT will not be supported
on an Open VMS softwar level. Where is it at the
controller level and what controllers (HSG80?)
would support it?
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  Due to performance and scaling limitations found within the design of
  the Snapshot Services product for OpenVMS -- configurations expected
  to be rather common in the OpenVMS environment -- the delivery of
  Snapshot Services for OpenVMS was cancelled and replacement capabilities
  are under development.  These replacement capabilities include the
  planned write-bitmap and the mini-copy capabilities.
 
  Snapshot Services was to be entirely host-based, not controller-based.
