BACKUP and CRC qualifier?

» close window

The Question is:

The backup command has a /crc qualifier what is your opinion about using the
/nocrc qualifier to reduce time for backups?

The Answer is :

The best way to determine if there is a tangible different between /CRC
and /NOCRC with your particular combination of CPU, memory, I/O
subsystem, disk drives, tape drives, peripheral topology, and data is
    with a stopwatch.

Perform the same BACKUP command against the same data to determine if
there is a measurable (or significant) difference. If you do choose to
perform backups with /NOCRC, you need to accept that you've reduced
    your protection against data errors.

Only you can decide if the tradeoff between speed and protection is
    worthwhile.
