DECnet BCKTRNSFAIL back-translation errors?

» close window

The Question is:

This relates to dfs version 2.2-3.

I got this error message for the first time and I don't know what to do.

I did mount for client:

$ mcr dfs$control
DFS>
mount/system/device=dfsc1584/volume=cmhb_lmh2disk/node=y2kdfs::gman:.lmh2di
sk cmhb_lmh2disk_nyimgd
%IPC-E-BCKTRNSFAIL, failure on the back translate address request
DFS>
It used to work before . What has changed?

The Answer is :

  This initially appears to be a result of a change to the local
  DECnet-Plus environment or network configuration, or a related
  failure or misconfiguration problem on the node.

  Most commonly, the back translation failure error is caused by an
  access from a remote node that is not registered in the DNS or
  local DECnet database of the node reporting the BCKTRNSFAIL error.

  Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance
  checking and configuring the local DECnet-Plus environment.
