The Question is:

Dear Wizzard,

My question is about a MicroVax 3800, our system crash over the weekend, we have the dump file that was produced before it crash. The file has the following error on it XQPERR, Error detected by file system XQP. The Microvax is connected to Storageworks c
abinet using a controller which is a MTI Qbus to SCSI controller that emulates a KDA controller. Our question is. Does this machine need a patch needed, or is there something else that could be wrong with it.

Thanks,

David Cousins

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard has no idea what the particular trigger for
this crash is -- it could be hardware, software, or otherwise.

There are various ECO kits available for OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2,
but without some idea of what happened it is difficult to
determine of this is a known problem. Please apply the various
mandatory ECO kits as a start, and please check the error log
and the device error counts for anything unusual.

If the problem persists, please contact the Compaq Customer
  Support Center for further assistance.
