Netscape Navigator Database Error?

» close window

The Question is:

The Netscape Navigator site certificates have expired.

Following the instructions in the FAQ, I loaded certificates from Verisign and Thawte.

Now, I get an error message, "The security library has experienced a database error. You will probably be unable to connect to this site securely."

This is only a minor improvement over the incessant clicking behavior of an expired certificate. Why? I deleted the VeriSign and Thawte certificates that were downloaded, and now I get asked --once-- whether I'd like to accept a site's certificate witho
ut verification.

OK, Wiz, what's wrong? I followed the instructions in the FAQ EXACTLY (repeated delete/download certificate cycle several times to be sure).

The Answer is :

This initially appears to be a database corruption somewhere underneath
Netscape Navigator. Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center
for assistance in resolving this matter -- restoration of the file from
the distribution or from a (valid) BACKUP may well be required.
