Mounting corrupted SCSI disk?

» close window

The Question is:

I'm getting IDXHDRBAD and MAPHDRBAD error messages when trying to mount a (very important) SCSI data disk. The disk will not mount Files-11 (it will mount /Foreign). The user actions for both messages suggest actions to recover files or repair disk stru
cture which require a successful Files-11 mount. Can you suggest any other methods to recover the files on this disk?

The Answer is :

It would appear this disk is either failing, or is badly corrupted.

You will want to contact Compaq Customer Services organization to
discuss potential strategies for recovery, but only after you (try
to) first perform a BACKUP/PHYSICAL of the disk on the off chance
that you are seeing a disk failure in progress.
