Tape mount verification, unable to dismount?

» close window

The Question is:

while doing a backup on a DLT tape unit on a device type TZ88 i received the
message:"%system-i-mountver, ilsysa$mkb200: is offline. mount verification in
progress" i stopped the backup and typed dismount/abort and logout the
 session. i received the messa
ge: "%system-i-mountver, ilsysa$mkb200: has aborted mount verification" i typed
 on the console ^p:
p00>>>d sirr c
p00>>>cont
IPC>c mkb200:
"mount verification not in progress"
the tape was still stucked, i typed "sh dev mkb200:" it gave me the device
 status: "mounted dismount alloc foreign"
again i tried dismount/abort but nothing helped except shuting down the system,
is there another solution except shutdown?

The Answer is :

As should be obvious, this situation should not occur.

Please check the error log, then check the SCSI configuration for
validity, correct termination, length, duplicate addresses, etc.

Please then contact your hardware support organization, and then
contact the Compaq Customer Support Center.
