The Question is:

hi!
My question is :How to remove OpenVMS Alpha OS Version 6.2-1H3?
For your information, I'm using AlphaServer 1000 4/266. When I turn on the
server, the system is booting up (non-stop). It shows many devices failure.
I have try several commands, such as:
1. >>>show device
I got ...............DKA0 ......
      dka600.6.0.0.6 DKA600 ............
Then, I try >>>boot -flags 0,0 dka600 and the message i got is :
dka600.6.0.6.0 has no media present or is disabled via the RUN/Stop switch
  failed to open dka600.6.0.6.0

Can you please help me to solve this problem? I want to use Windows NT Server
but I can't because of this problem. And for your further information, I'm a
new user of OpenVMS (I don't know anything about this OS).

Thank you.

The Answer is :

It would appear that you do not have a DKA600: SCSI disk device
available and powered up, or that there is a SCSI unit number
collision (possibly with the host SCSI controller), or that there
is no media loaded in the DKA600: device, or some other hardware
or SCSI configuration or SCSI termination problem has occured.

If the information on loading firmware and the associated firmware
pointers in the OpenVMS FAQ are insufficient for your requirments,
and if setting the OS_TYPE environment variable to NT and then
power-cycling the system does not help, the OpenVMS Wizard recommends
you contact your hardware support organization or Compaq Customer
Service Center for assistance in determining the particular problem
and in loading the appropriate firmware. (Windows NT expects ARC or
AlphaBIOS, while OpenVMS and Tru64 UNIX expect the SRM firmware.)

The OpenVMS Wizard is not particularly in a position to discuss
  Windows NT.

Compaq has announced that new development in support of Microsoft
Windows NT on Alpha platforms is being discontinued -- available
migration is to OpenVMS Alpha and Tru64 UNIX on Alpha, or to an
  Intel-based platform.
