Reading PC ISO-9660 CD extensions?

» close window

The Question is:

I wrote and used a DCL to copy a file tree from OpenVMS to a PC. I then used
Easy CD Creator to write the file tree to a CD-R. I then mounted the CD on an
Alpha v7.2-1. And everything looks fine - except file names as displayed using
 "DIR" are cut back to
8.3 format with a tilde indicating the truncation. (If I access the same CD
using a PC I do not see this problem). How do I get OpenVMS to show me the
full filename which for most of our files is more than 8 char? One of the
FAQ's and some of the answers
provided by the wizard addresses ISO9660 issues but I have not found an answer
 to the above.
Thanks

The Answer is :

OpenVMS does not support various of the extentions to ISO 9660
  used by the Microsoft platforms.

The OpenVMS Wizard would recommend using a "raw" burn of the
disk, and not permitting any access, manipulation or other
operations on the file structure. Alternatively, connect the
CD-R to OpenVMS and use the directions referenced in the FAQ
to directly create the CD-R media.
