The Answer is :

The Compaq DECram product works correctly -- the OpenVMS Wizard is
unfamiliar with the specifics of the reported "reliability problem",
but will assume that this is a reference to the lack of backing
storage for the contents of the DECram device, and thus the volatility
of the data over a system failure. (Save for the case of shadowing
the DECram device with a physical disk of the same number of blocks,
  of course.)

Alternatives to using host-based RAM disks such as DECram include
database caching, RMS global buffers, controller caching, and
  faster magnetic or solid-state disks.

Please see topics 2380 and 4035 for related discussions.
