Multi-Headed DECwindows?

» close window

The Question is:

Hello!

We have got some AXP500au with VMS072 and DECWindows 1.2.5.
We are using 3 graphic adapters PBXGB.

The Problem:
1. Multihead is only possible if the logical name DECW$FFDODMA = 4
This was told us by the "Help line". What does this parameter mean ?
    It is undocumented.

2. We have a display-application which works with plane-switching
(update without flickering...). This program works well since years
on our VAXes and AXP500/500, but on the new machine it gets
hibernating (HIB) after some minutes. We think that there is possibly
a problem in the X-server. Do You have ever heared about such
    problems ?

That's all.

Sincerely

Martin Hinterseer

The Answer is :

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance.
This could potentially be a problem in the DECwindows environment,
or it could also easily be a problem in the application itself.

You will want to ensure that the current ECO kits are applied,
particularly the GRAPHICS ECO kit and any kits available for the
DECwindows environment -- and it is best to upgrade to OpenVMS
  Alpha V7.2-1.

The "ffDoDMA" option selects DMA operations within the server.
