Printer failure after relocation?

» close window

The Question is:

We have moved a set of printers to a new location, and now are having problems
with an old LA210 dot matrix printer queue not printing. Simply put, we
unplugged the printer, moved it, and plugged it in again to the ports on the
 system.

Symptoms are: Printer queue pauses when you print to it. The print job never
comes out. If you print a couple of things, the first one disapears, the
queue pauses, and the others stack up in the que. By issuing the start que
 command, the printer moves
to the next job, which disapears and then pauses the queue again.

Why does this do this?

Can you help us mister Wizard?

The Answer is :

Assuming the same host or terminal server port is in use and no other
changes have been made -- other than the physical relocation of the
printer -- this initially appears to be a broken wire, a bad connector,
a communications hardware problem in the printer, or other related
communications problem. (This could also be a result of a change to
the printer setup made during the move of the peripheral or similar,
either as a result of the power-cycle or as a result of intentionally
  or unintentionally changing a setting.)
