Tape Compression/Compaction Problems?

» close window

The Question is:

I'm using a Digital TZ885 autoloader tape device in a Alpha 4100/VMS 7.2-1
environment. As documented in the tape user guide the tape should store on
high density 40GB/tape (I'm using DLTape IV cartridge tapes...). It did not
(it work only up to 20 GB/tap
e !!!???).

Thanks,

Madalin

PS:

The Answer is :

Please ensure that current OpenVMS ECO kits are installed, that
/MEDIA_FORMAT=COMPACTION is used throughout MOUNT, BACKUP, etc,
and that the data involved is actually compressable.

If the problem persists, please contact the Compaq Customer
  Support Center for assistance.
