OpenVMS Futures and Release Roadmap?

» close window

The Question is:

What are the plans for future versions of OpenVMS, that is, will there be a
 V7.3, V8.0 etc.?
What are the next major versions that will be shipped?
What will be in them?
Will these upgrades be available for both the Alpha and the VAX?

The Answer is :

There are well-established plans for future versions of OpenVMS, and
there have been various presentations on future releases at customer
events around the world. For general information and the roadmap,
please see the main OpenVMS website, and also specifically see:

    http://www.openvms.digital.com/openvms/roadmap/openvms_roadmaps.htm

Please contact your local OpenVMS Ambassador for technical information,
as well as information of interest to your specific area.

The next major OpenVMS version (V7.3) is expected to enter field
test in July 2000, and is currently expected to ship from engineering
late in 2000, with arrival of the media at customer sites expected
  in early 2001.

Several OpenVMS versions are under concurrent development, with active
development for new releases for both Alpha and VAX underway.
