AUTHORIZE and revision dates?

The Question is:

 
A 'mc authorize show/proxy *' causes revised date of NETPROXY.DAT to update.
 E.g. 'dir/date=(cre,mod) NETPROXY' shows modified date is changing even though
 action was for a read. Should this be so. NET$PROXY.DAT is ok.
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  This is normal.  The tool opens the file for read-write access.
