Locked log files and COPY?

The Question is:

 
The program runs about 8hrs, output of the run is written to a log file. The
 size of a log file
dynamicaly increases as the run progresses. I want to copy this opened log file
 to a diferent file name to perform error search.
The 'copy' command did not work:
 
-RMS-E-FLK, file currently locked by another user
 
The 'backup' command copies the file, but it
has 0 blocks and no text in it.
 
 
Is there a way to copy an opened file in DCL ?
