Creating new version of ERRORLOG.SYS?

The Question is:

 
Errorlog.sys - how do I start a new version?
 
searched FAQs, docs, etc and I can find how to
analyse it...but can I just rename to errorlog.old and the system will
 automatically start a new log? Or is there the equivalent of reply/log?
