SYS$REM_ID and SYS$REM_NODE under TCPIP 5.0A?

» close window

The Question is:

How do I get the host names to be resolved automatically when logging in using
the TCP/IP services? I want to know the name of the host instead of the IP
 address.

For example, I want F$GETJPI("","TT_ACCPORNAM") to return
 computer56.company.com instead of 1.2.3.4.

The Answer is :

First, ensure that you are using TCP/IP Services V5.0A ECO1, or later.
There is a fix for what appears to be a similar problem expected in
the V5.1 release, which is currently in field test. (Also please see
the information around the TCPIP$TELNET_NO_REM_ID mechanism in the ECO1
documentation for TCP/IP Services version V5.0A, as there are some other
implications of changes made in this area.)
