FTP session disconnected?

» close window

The Question is:

FTP Server accepts a request, in this case from
my PC, but hangs for a couple of minutes before
the closing the connection. The PC client issue a message "Connection closed by
 remote host."
prior to exiting.

The only message in the FTP listener log is
"%TCPIP-I-FTP_SESCON, FTP SERVER: session connection from 132.5.192.246 at
 18-DEC-2000 16:52:26.78" ( my PC is connected)/

Any ideas, as to why this is?

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume that this is the current version of
TCP/IP Services. As of this writing (December, 2000), V5.0A ECO1
  is the current version.

Try connecting from another FTP client -- at least one previous case
has been identified and confirmed, where the PC incorrectly indicated
that the remote end had closed the IP connection, a case where it was
the PC that closed the connection.

Assuming the log you reference was the contents of:

    SYS$SYSDEVICE:[TCPIP$FTP]TCPIP$FTP_RUN.LOG

You will probably next need to acquire a protocol trace of the FTP
  sequence in use.

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center. Expect to be asked
for at least some of the above information, as well as details of the
particular PC operating system and the particular FTP client involved.
