» close window

The Question is:

We are considering upgrading our VAX cluster from v6.1 to v7.2. Currently our
cluster is comprised of on 4000-500A and one 4000-705A. what type of
perfomance effects will the upgrade have and is the hardware of the cluster
sufficient for the new os vers
ion?

The Answer is :

There is no generic answer, unfortunately. Assuming sufficient
physical memory and storage is available, you will see some areas
of OpenVMS performance improve and you may see the performance of
other areas reduced. OpenVMS Engineering does go to lengths to
avoid system performance degradations, and to provide improvements
in many areas. Without details of exactly what features -- and this
is information that is usually only possible to determine via a local
system benchmark -- there can be no specific nor useful answer.
