DECnet, LAT and IP (telnet) Printing?

» close window

The Question is:

I use a LA400 printer to print my work. The printqueue uses the decnet
protocol, however now I want to connect it via telneting to an IP address of
the terminal server on a lat port.
How can I be able to do this ?

The Answer is :

DECnet, LAT, and IP are completely different network protocols.

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume that DECnet is not involved, and that
this is a request to move from LAT to IP.

If you wish to move to IP printing, please see topic (1020) and the
associated topics referenced there, and the TCP/IP Services product
  documentation, as a start.

You will also need to review the current network and queue configuration
and the associated hardware, and determine what (if anything) you will
need to replace to provide IP connectivity to the printer.
