Multiple NICs and IP Addresses, NetRAIN?

» close window

The Question is:

How many NIC ports does an OpenVMS Alpha Support? As an example, could
I put two (2) 4 port NIC cards in a system and then separately and
simultaneously use all 8 ports with different I/P addresses?

Is TEAMING of the ports allowed? Is it enabled by default?

    Thank you!

The Answer is :

OpenVMS supports as many NICs as you have slots for, with
up to twenty-six of the same type of controller permitted.

Yes, and this is discussed in the TCP/IP Services manual
and here in Ask The Wizard. Related topics: (1514), (2150),
  (3015), (3371), (3416), (5102), (5261), (5328), etc.

The OpenVMS Wizard is unfamiliar with "teaming", but will
assume this is NetRAIN. If so, some IP stacks may (do?)
this support on OpenVMS, though TCP/IP Services does not
presently have this support. Topics related to NetRAIN
  include: (4555), (4701), (5006), (5047), etc.
