IBM SNA to IP Migration?

» close window

The Question is:

We are currently running several sna layered products (SNA-RJE, Term Emulation,
Data Streaming) through a Channel Attach Dec SNA Gateway.

We would like to convert the applications/users that use these layered products
to connect via TCP/IP instead of the old gateways.

Do these products support connecting to IBM Mainframe systems via TCP/IP? Can
it be done without having to re-write/compile applications (configuration
change)? Is there sufficient documentation to describe how this is
 accomplished?

The Answer is :

The specified products use IBM SNA protocols to communicate with IBM
host systems. If you wish to use IP protocols, then you will be using
other products and other APIs and IP routing -- the OpenVMS Wizard is
not aware of an SNA-to-IP gateway (transparent or otherwise), but IBM
SNA networking is well outside the usual haunts of the OpenVMS Wizard.
