Graphics Monitor Hardware Problem? (VRT19)

» close window

The Question is:

I have hobbyist Dec3000-400
My VRT19 monitor cuts off the left
8 or 10 characters of text

Here is data on Monitor

Model GDM - 1960
VRT19-DA
Has RGB at video "in"

Have not found anything in FAQ or other
wizard questions that would deal with
this.

Thanks, Gary Prarat

The Answer is :

Assuming you have DECwindows correctly configured, and assuming
that the monitor is compatible with the particular graphics
controller installed in the system, please either replace the
monitor (clearly the simplest), or please contact your hardware
service organization to get the monitor adjusted or repaired.

Please see the OpenVMS FAQ for information on the Compaq Assisted
Services (CAS) folks -- these Compaq folks can assist you with
spare parts, depot repairs, and with hardware information and
documentation and diagnostics. You can obtain available hardware
service documentation and procedures via CAS.

The OpenVMS Wizard is somewhat uncomfortable providing you with
details of internal hardware adjustments, given that this is a
question of hardware (and not of OpenVMS), and given that your
level of training and experience in this area is entirely unknown
  to the OpenVMS Wizard.
