Personal Workstation and clock battery?

» close window

The Question is:

When our DPWS-433au boots, it goes into the Alphabios console instead of the
SRM console. We have to manually set the clock and tell it to boot VMS in the
CMOS/Advanced options section of the Alphabios, then cycle the power to get it
 to reboot. It does
not retain this information, is there an on-board battery that we need to
change out? If so, where in the documentation can we find out how to do the
change out and what type of battery.

The Answer is :

Assuming that you have followed the steps in the OpenVMS FAQ for
switching from the AlphaBIOS to the SRM console and particularly
remembered to save your settings, please contact your hardware
support organization for assistance with the hardware.

Switching (back) to AlphaBIOS on power-up can be a symptom of a
failed battery connection, failed battery, or main-board problem.

Probably the simplest test -- swapping the battery -- involves
acquiring and replacing the battery (part number 12-41476-06),
located on the main logic board. For this task, please contact
  your hardware support organization.
