IDE Disks and controllers on OpenVMS?

» close window

The Question is:

Does OpenVMS Support IDE disk drives as either a
System disk or a Data Disk?

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS FAQ section "ALPHA23. OpenVMS and Personal Workstation
IDE bootstrap?" might be of interest. Additionally, the AlphaStation
XP900, AlphaStation DS10, and AlphaServer DS10 -- all basically the
same system, and all supported by OpenVMS -- typically ship with an
  IDE-based disk configuration.

The list of supported devices is included in the OpenVMS Software
Product Description (SPD) -- pointers to the website that serves the
various SPDs are included in the OpenVMS FAQ.

IDE-related topics here in Ask The Wizard include the following:
  (1473), (1490), (1771), (1944), (2566), (2933), (2978), (3750),
(4291), (5118), and (5125). There are likely others, as well.
