%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, ERROR ACTIVATING IMAGE VMS$TIS_SHR
CLI-E-IMGNAME, IMAGE FILE $1$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB[CMA$TIS_SHR.EXE
-SYSTEM-F-SHRIDMISMAT, IDENT MISMATH WITH SHAREABLE IMAGE

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE TRIEd RUNNING VMSTAR for a tar file AND NOT
SURE WHAT TO DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP.

THANK YOU,
Darrell Chandler

The Answer is :

Your version of the tar image is likely too new for your (very old)
version of OpenVMS. You will have to rebuild the tar images for your
OpenVMS version, or upgrade to a more recent version of OpenVMS, or
(potentially) apply ECO kits for the Compaq C and DECthreads Run-time
  libraries.

For details on the underlying mechanisms, see the LINKER GSMATCH
documentation, the HELP/MESSAGE SHRIDMISMAT text, and the Shareable
Image Cookbook document. (The cookbook is available at the OpenVMS
  Ask The Wizard site.)
