Application Exits with Unexpected Error Code?

The Question is:

 
What is the meaning of this error code and what could be wrong with the
 software package
 

The Answer is :

 
  Please contact the maintainer(s) of the software package, as it
  would appear that the package is returning a bogus status (exit)
  value to the command interpreter.  An application exit with a
  random junk value left resident in register R0, in other words.
 
  If necessary, the programmers may wish to review the OpenVMS
  Programming Concepts manual and the system service reference
  documentation.  Areas of specific interest will involve the
  standard condition value format, and the $exit that is either
  explicitly invoked within the code or that is implicitly invoked
  on behalf of the application upon the return statement that
