CMS NOEXTENDEDREF error on ODS-2 disk?

» close window

The Question is:

When I initially create a library and specify a reference copy directory, it
will work. However, if I've create a library without a reference copy
directory and then later, attempt to modify the library and change the
reference copy attribute to point to
a directory (which already exists), I get the CMS-E-NOMODIFY error with the
secondary message stating that extended filenames are not available for
 reference copy directory.

I cannot find anything in the CMS documentation that states you MUST have
extended filenames on the device in order to use reference copy directories.
Also, why is it that when I create a library and specify a reference copy
 directory in the CREATE LIBRAR
Y command that it takes? What can I do to allow me to modify libraries that are
already existing? Currently, I have to go and recreate the library from
scratch in order to add the reference copy directory.

Thanks!

The Answer is :

There is a fix underway or available for CMS V4.1 for this, please
contact the Compaq Customer Support Center directly for assistance.

This error has been found and duplicated, and has been resolved to
the selection of ODS-5 during the CMS installation and the use of a
target disk that is ODS-2. One potential workaround involves the
reinstallation of CMS, and specifically avoiding selection of the
Extended File Specification (ODS-5) support during the installation.
