The Question is:

 
We need a defragmentation tool for OpenVMS disks. Please, tell us if there is
 any commercial or freeware, except for BACKUP utility? We have ALPHA servers
 1000A and 800 with OpenVMS v7.1 and v7.1-1H2 respectively. Thank you, Leonid.
 

The Answer is :

 
  BACKUP works quite nicely, and provides you with a reliable and
  restorable copy of your data.
 
  As for available defragmentation tools, packages from Compaq and
  from third-party vendors are available.  For details on available
  packages and options and vendors, please see the software catalog,
