IP telnet print symbiont problems?

» close window

The Question is:

IP telnet print queue stalls

I have found the answers in the following
toppics:
1020, 1429, 1797, 2276, 2418, 2715, 2770, 2782, 3385, 3540
but I miss one answer:
The problem also exists on very fast alpha
systems (eg. ES40) and the queues are stalling
some times. I can set TCPIP$TELNETSYM_RETRY_INTERVAL to any value but
the problem still exists. Do you have any
further hints?

Thanks,
Martin

The Answer is :

Please move to current software and ECO kits for TCP/IP Services and
please consider an OpenVMS upgrade and the mandatory OpenVMS ECO kits,
please ensure you have the current firmware for the particular printer
involved, and please then contact the support center. Expect to be
asked details of the printer involved, the printer firmware, the local
network, and the IP printing configuration.

As a potential work-around, try using lpr -- most printers now usually
  implement both telnet and lpr/lpd.
