DE500 Negotiation and Duplex Settings?

» close window

The Question is:

I was asked to see if the communication from
the Alpha (which I manage) to the switch on
the network (managed by the network guys) be
made full duplex. ifconfig displays it is
working in simplex mode and there does not
seem to be an option in ifconfig to change it.
The switch (CISCO) is set to "auto-negotiate"

It is also communicating at 10mbps, Can this
be changed to 100mbps? The network card is a
DE500 capable of both 10/100mbps operation

The Answer is :

Please see the OpenVMS FAQ section on Ethernet, IEEE 802.3, CSMA/CD
negotiation and specifically on DE500 controller configuration.
There are multiple DE500 controller variants available, and the FAQ
covers this particular topic in some detail.
