Configuring NICs for Clustering?

» close window

The Question is:

I have a DS10 in a LAVC Cluster, during startup of the machine, must be short
before STACONFIG-I-QIO$CONFIGURE, both onboard NICS are enabled and the LEDs
are active. From this time on a performance slowdown takes place (it take
aprox. 6min. to join the c
luster!). With sys$examples:lavc$stop_bus.exe ewa0: (The network is connected
to ewa1:) the wrong interface is turned off and everything works fine.

How can I change this misconfiguration, to get a clean startup ??

Best regards
Alfred

The Answer is :

The presence of two on-board NICs would imply an AlphaServer DS10L,
or an AlphaServer DS10 or AlphaStation DS10 with an additional PCI
NIC installed. There are various NICs available for the AlphaServer
DS10 and AlphaStation DS10, please see the OpenVMS FAQ for details
  of configuring the DE500 series.

Please contact the support center, as there is apparently a network
or low-level cluster configuration error here -- in particular, the
OpenVMS Wizard would encourage proper configuration and termination
of the physical network connections. (Manual re-configuration of the
available connections is generally not recommended -- please see
topic (8185) for a similar discussion -- as these can potentially
reduce the overall availability and reliability of the configuration.)

EWA1: is a protocol connection on the EWA0: controller, the second
network controller would be device EWB0:.
