Serving LAT Printer Queue via IP?

» close window

The Question is:

how can print from unix via LPD and UCX to printer que on OpenVMS which have
 LAT connection to dedicated printer

The Answer is :

While you can probably configure and organize the OpenVMS TCP/IP
Services LPD mechanism to serve access to an OpenVMS print queue
and specifically a queue which happens to target the LAT printer,
the OpenVMS Wizard would switch over to an IP printer, or would
acquire a JetDirect NIC for an existing and specialized printer.
This native IP approach will be simpler, easier, cheaper, and
directly accessable to OpenVMS and to all IP hosts on the network.

For information on configuring LPD server on OpenVMS, please see
  the TCP/IP Services Management documentation.
