OpenVMS and Windows XP? (take II)

» close window

The Question is:

My Alpha1000 server running OpenVMS v 7.2 has Pathworks v 5.0F running. PC
stations with Pathworks32 installed have perfect interoperability (both for
file and print service) when they run Windows 95 or 98. When running Windows
 XP, however, I can't transf
er files with long names from PC to server, while the reverse works fine. The
 message is either
"Destination does not accept long file names. Enter a name for this file"
 when using Windows explorer

or "Impossible to access repertory "H:\". It may be located in a unavailable
site, or password protected, or the file name contains "/" or "\" characters"
when trying to save a file directly from Word to the remote disk.

What might the problem be ?

Thank you in advance

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard will here reaffirm previous related statements made
in existing topics including (8266) and (6571).

Please move to current Advanced Server and current PATHWORKS32 client
versions; the product versions in use here greatly predate your current
requirements for interoperation with Microsoft Windows XP.

The PATHWORKS version referenced here does not provide support for
  interoperations with Microsoft Windows XP.
