Seeking Telnet IP Host Address?

» close window

The Question is:

I know that for an incoming telnet connection, $GETDVI with DVI$_TT_ACCPORNAM
will return the name of the client system but I would like to get this in
dotted IP notation. I can call the various socket functions to convert the
host name back to an IP addr
ess but that can be slow, depending on the source of the telnet connection. It
seems that this information must be stored by the server somewhere, is there a
 way I can get it?

The Answer is :

The desired IP address information is not readily available across
all IP product stacks and across the various IP product versions.
(OpenVMS tries to maintain and to report the IP host name, and not
  the address.)
