Personal Workstation Install Boot Failure?

» close window

The Question is:

OpenVMS installation on an Alpha 500au fails. a device on the boot line or in
BOOT_DEV cannot be found in the config table(CFG_DEV_NOT_FOUND).

The Answer is :

Please ensure you have current OpenVMS firmware installed and have
selecte OpenVMS as the OS_TYPE. Please also ensure you have read
the OpenVMS FAQ section on supported and unsupported platforms (eg:
the Personal Workstation -a series is not supported), and particularly
have read the discussions of the ATA (IDE) CD-ROM devices and boot
paths found on various of the Personal Workstation series systems.

For assistance with troubleshooting your SCSI or ATA devices and
your system hardware -- another obvious potential cause -- please
contact your hardware services organization. Your local prefered
services organization should check the bus length and bus integrity,
the bus termination (if appropriate), the devices that are present,
device and controller firmware revisions (if appropriate), and the
many other I/O-related details that can potentially be involved.
