EFS/ODS-5 System Disk?

» close window

The Question is:

ODS-5 for system disk ?

The OpenVMS Guide to Extended File Specifications mentions that there is no
support for setting up the system disk as an ODS-5 volume, but during
installation of OpenVMS 7.3-1 or 7.3-2 there is an option for initializing the
system disk as ODS-2 or ODS-5
volume.

Which is the minimum OpenVMS version that supports ODS-5 system disks ? Is it
possible to convert a system disk using SET VOLUME/STRUCT=5 ?

Thank you and best regards
Stefan Kerl

The Answer is :

The V7.3-2 upgrade provides for this conversion and supports ODS-5
system disks, and the switch from ODS-2 to ODS-5 is the cited
one-line DCL command. Two DCL commands, if you want to analyze
  the results using ANALYZE/DISK_STRUCTURE.

Details are in the V7.3-2 release documentation.
