BEA announces MessageQ port to OpenVMS on Itanium®-based systems

BEA MessageQ is at the core of tens of thousands of enterprise OpenVMS applications and systems, enabling them to communicate reliably with each other. To help customers integrate with, or port their OpenVMS applications to, the recently announced EV7-based AlphaServer systems, BEA has certified MessageQ on OpenVMS v7.3.1 and will continue to support all future AlphaServer platforms. As a result of important customer feedback that has brought about a concerted effort to foster closer ties with its enormous installed base, BEA has recently committed to porting MessageQ to OpenVMS on Itanium®-based systems. This is exciting news to thousands of OpenVMS users, who can now move forward with their plans to upgrade their current AlphaServer and VAX-based enterprise applications to the new OpenVMS Itanium®-based architecture. MessageQ, along with the OpenVMS operating system, will handle the architectural complexities between AlphaServer and Itanium®-based systems, enabling users to retain their current application middleware routines and APIs.

As part of this commitment to MessageQ, BEA is now featuring the product and its roadmaps prominently on its recently redesigned Website. Visitors can see that an early release of MessageQ on OpenVMS Itanium®-based systems (IA 64) is scheduled for later this calendar year. BEA MessageQ customers can now look forward to additional public announcements referencing MessageQ futures, as well as customer focus group sessions and special MessageQ-oriented events.
