The Secure Web Browser is based on the SeaMonkey open-source project. SeaMonkey
has inherited the successful all-in-one concept of the original Netscape
Communicator and continues that product line based on the modern, cross-platform
architecture provided by the Mozilla project. More information
on SeaMonkey can be found at
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/.
SWB is licensed as part of the OpenVMS operating system
license and provides a full-featured, customizable browser with integrated
web-browsing and security; HTML document creation and editing; clients
for mail and news; and an available Internet Relay Chat (IRC).
SWB includes support for the following features:
- HyperText Markup Language (HTML 4.01)
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS1/2)
- Document Object Model (DOM1/ 2)
- eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
- Resource Definition Framework (RDF)
- Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
- Java and JavaScript
See the Source Kits and Build
Instructions page for information on
building the Secure Web Browser or Mozilla
from sources.
Note: Secure Web Browser (based on
SeaMonkey) and Secure Web Browser (based on Mozilla) are the same products
supported on two different platforms. For more details, refer to the Release Notes.
