DIGITAL SNA access server migration guide

Setting Up Access Server Components

Because of the many ways that an access routine can access the SNA Server, the Access Server has a variety of ways to interpret access name parameters. You may choose to set up only one or two of the possible interpretation methods, or you may choose to set up a complete set of options for interpreting access parameters.

You can define an access name and a direct method for choosing an LU:

  • You can define a list of LUs for a particular access name.
  • You can define one or more LU pools for a particular access name.
  • You can define one or more Base Names for a particular access name, plus a method for creating an extension.

You can define an old-style LU name and a mapping method for choosing an LU:

  • You can define an LU name or LU pool for a particular old-style LU name.
  • You can define a Base Name for a particular old-style LU name, plus a method for creating an extension.

The more ways you have for access routines to access LUs, the more flexible your network access may be and the more transparent the migration may be.
