Coexistence of DECnet SNA Gateway and Access Server Gateway
Figure 3-3 shows a typical configuration with the DECnet
SNA Gateway and Access Server Gateway on the same network.
Figure 3-3: Network with DECnet SNA Gateway and Access Server Gateway
In order for the two gateways to coexist successfully,
you should:
-
Get a new node name for the Windows NT system hosting the Access Server
Gateway. The gateways cannot share the same node name.
-
Develop new configurations for the SNA Server and the Access Server. You
will not be able to migrate the existing DECnet SNA Gateway configuration
file completely, although some of the parameters may be the same.
-
Determine when, or under what circumstances, the DECnet SNA Gateway will
be permanently shut down.
-
Make sure you are familiar with the network management tools needed to
manage both gateways (see Chapter 5 for
more information).
-
Select a way to test the network once you have configured the Access Server
Gateway.
-
Determine when to notify users about the gateway changes and what information
they will need to know.
