Replacement of DECnet SNA Gateway by Access Server Gateway
The most effective way to manage a seamless migration from the existing DECnet SNA Gateway to the Access Server Gateway is to use the information in the DECnet SNA Gateway configuration file to
create the Access Server Gateway configuration. In this way, you can minimize the impact of the migration to users of your network. If the DECnet SNA Gateway will be immediately replaced with the
Access Server Gateway, you should:
- Map the parameters and specifications from the DECnet SNA Gateway configuration file to configure the SNA Server and the Access Server.
- Set a date for the migration. Notify users, if necessary.
- Select a way to test the network once you have configured the Access Server Gateway.
- Decide whether you will use the node name of the existing DECnet SNA Gateway as the new node name for the Windows NT system hosting the Access Server Gateway. If not, get a new node name.
- If you use the existing node name, the migration will be transparent to users. If you assign a new node name, users may need to update their OpenVMS access routines with the new node name. You
will need to coordinate the gateway and node name changes with the users of the gateway.
