DII COE is designed to provide a common information technology architecture, to promote interoperability, and to establish
cross-platform capabilities for the increasingly diverse Department of Defense (DOD) operations. The Kernel Platform Compliance
Program allows a vendor to certify a specific hardware/software platform against DISA criteria for Kernel Platform compliance.
These criteria include compliance with industry standards, commercial testing, and satisfaction of DISA interoperability, security,
and functional requirements.
The OpenVMS COE software provides features and functions that are essential to the operation of an application platform within a
distributed environment. OpenVMS COE Platform Compliance provides a level of assurance that the OpenVMS compliant application
platform:
- Provides services to application software through conforming APIs required by the COE Kernel.
- Presents a specific appearance and behavior at the human/computer interface level.
- Executes the Government Supplied Kernel Source (GSKS) code with the same behavior as the current “Reference Platforms”.
- Demonstrates interoperability and data interchange for a basic set of Internet application level services.
- Provides a minimum set of security features and security configuration checks.
HP remains strongly committed to DII COE and will continue to monitor its evolution. HP plans to continue to enhance OpenVMS to
meet the requirements of governments worldwide.
HP is working with the U.S. Department of Defense, its agencies, and related third parties to ensure that OpenVMS DII COE
self-certification meets their program requirements.
Furthermore, HP plans to continue working with The Open Group in order to be prepared when future certification opportunities
arise.
