Postscript printer support

The Question is:

I have a VAX Station 3100-38 with VMS 6.1 and VWS 4.5. Installed on
CSA0: is an LJ250 which is driven from the SYSPRINT printer queue.
Today I received a DEC Colorwriter 1000 PS printer and I am trying to
install it on CSA0:. I am desirous of rendering plots to this device
via the RENDER/DEST=PS command. I am having difficulties setting up a
queue for this device that works. The manuals provide complete
descriptions for how to print to the printer from DOS, MAC, Windows,
or three flavors of unix. The openVMS description says that it is
optimal to use DECprint server. It implies that the basic drivers
exist on VMS, but I can not find them or figure out how to set it up.
I have taken the render files and printed it on PS printers attached
to DOS based machines. I however can not seem to print to the 1000.
The lights seem to indicate the file is being transferred, but no
error messages are generated, and the printer never prints any paper.
I have printed the test page.

How come the manuals for the printer do not indicate how to use it with VMSS?

Where can I find information oon setting up the queues for openVMS?

Thanks

The Answer is:

We are mildly surprised that the settings that worked for the older
printer were not sufficient. Stop the queue on CSA0, and then try
using copy to send a postscript file to ther printer. You will
probably need to set the terminal to /PASTHRU, /TTYSYNCH, /EIGHT,
/UNKNOWN. These should be a good starting point. Once you can get a
file to print that way, start up the queue again and try to print the
    file again.

Support for PostScript printers is provided with DECprint Supervisor (DCPS).
The Colorwriter 1000 printer is supported with DCPS V1.0C and later. Customers
should refer to DCPS documentation when setting up any PostScript printer on an
OpenVMS system.

DCPS is free. Only the more advanced features require a license. Thinking in
the PC/Macintosh way, DCPS contains all the drivers for PostScript printers.
